Day 1 — Greeting in Chinese

Track1: 你好(nǐ hǎo

“你好(nǐ hǎo)” means “hello”. A literal translation of“你好(nǐ hǎo)” is “You Good!”: “(nǐ)” means “you” and “(hǎo )” means “good”. It is a very common way to greet people in Chinese. You can use it in almost any situations and on both strangers and friends. To greet back, you use the same expression “你好(nǐ hǎo”. E.g.,

A: 你好, Ken!(nǐ hǎo
[Hello, Ken!]

B: 你好, Yong!(nǐ hǎo
[Hello, Yong!]
