Day 34: Further discussion of Chinese New Year

To celebrate Chinese New Year the more people the merrier. Chinese New year lasts one week; therefore when we greet each other we said “过年好” (Chinese New Year Greeting). This is a common way of greeting in North part of China. A common way of greeting in South is 恭喜发财(Gōng xǐ fā cái). It is probably because the people in south care more about their business and their money. 恭喜(Gōng xǐ ) means to wish you. 发财 (fācái) means to get rich and 财(cái) means wealth. Usually, kids will get money in a red envelop from this festival， so will usually add one more sentence: 红包拿来 (hóng bāo ná lái). 红包 means read envelop, 拿来 means to give me. Such as give me the money. In Chinese New Year, a common saying: 恭喜发财 红包拿来. (Gōng xǐ fācái ,hóng bāo ná lái)

Chinese : 恭喜发财！(Wish You to Get wealthy.)

Pinyin: (Gōng xǐ fā cái)

Chinese: 拿来 ( Give me)

COE: Take come

Pinyin: (Ná lái )

E.g.

A: 过年好! (Guò nián hǎo !)

A: 恭喜发财! (Gōng xǐ fā cái !)

[Wish You wealthy. ]

B: 谢谢！( Xièxiè.)

[Thank you.]
